EG had a wonderful time visiting with some of the other artists as
well as some of her fans before the show. After sitting down to a
southern style dinner, the show took off with a night full of performances
and award presentations. Though EG didn’t bring home any trophies,
it was an honor to watch as her friend and mentor, Koko Taylor, took
home another award for Traditional Female Artist. It was especially
moving to see the Lifetime Achievement Award presented to Pinetop
Perkins. (EG and Pinetop worked a show together only a few days later
in Athens, Georgia.)
EG performed on the show, closing it out in the wee hours. The
crowd, though somewhat diminished, was still on their feet when
she took the stage. To quote Don "T-Bone" Erickson (of BluesWax):
“E.G. Kight and her band finished off the festivities with style
and incredible grace; the perfect end to a night to remember for
years to come.”

In an interview with Music City Blues Society President, David Flynn,
the question was posed - "Have any country artists ever strayed
permanently into the blues?" David responded with this - "Sure.
One example is a Music City Blues Society member named EG Kight. Formerly
a country music artist, she now is strictly a blues musician, and
has been nominated for a Handy Award as "Contemporary Blues -
Best Female Artist of the Year." |

Some of EG's fans have seen them. Many fans have requested copies
of them. Soon, they'll be available for purchase through the website.
Taken along the highways and roadsides during her travels, EG has
developed quite a photographer's eye, and has even won ribbons for
some of them at the National Fair. Check back soon for details about
how you can purchase one of EG's very own photographs.
In the meantime, go to "EG's
Photography" to see some of the pictures that she and Teresa
have uploaded. We'll soon be adding more, and will let you know
when you can buy your own copy!

The West Coast welcomed EG and her music this fall. Starting in
Vegas, EG hit the road on a two-week tour, performing at some awesome
venues. Photos from that trip can be found in the gallery.
EG started the month in Chattanooga , then headed north to perform
at the Boston Gardens in Pennsylvania. She then had the opportunity
to return to Humphrey's in Huntsville, Alabama. That place will
always hold special memories for EG, because that was the place
where Koko Taylor snuck in and surprised her a couple of years ago.
Koko had never seen EG's show till that night, and she still talks
about it to this day!
